Caring for a Mud Turtle

Despite the fact that their adult size is 5", these turtles require at least a 20- gallon fish tank that is half land, half water not dropping below 70 degrees F.

Turtles require UVB lights. These turtles aren't known to bask unlike other water turtles. However they should still be provided with a heat gradient as well as a water heater.

Mud turtles are omnivores, but the majority of their diet consists of worms, fish, snails and other foods found in ponds. Turtle pellets are a great addition to their diet however they should not make up the base of their diet.

Tank water should be kept clean and clear, and waste should be disposed of when spotted. Be sure to keep up with water changes as well as filter cartridges soon after.
